Residential Wall Mounting and Installation

Need an item mounted or installed around your home?

I provide residential wall mounting and installation services for suitable fixtures, fittings, storage items and selected household appliances.

With more than 20 years of hands-on repair and maintenance experience, I understand the care required when mounting items to plasterboard, timber framing, masonry, tiles and other common household surfaces.

Before proceeding, I consider:

• The weight and design of the item
• The supplied bracket or mounting system
• The wall or surface construction
• Accessible framing or reliable fixing points
• Concealed electrical, plumbing or other services
• The proposed location
• Safe access and handling requirements

The proposed position or installation method may need to change where a suitable fixing point cannot be confirmed.

Main Installation Services

Clothes Dryer Wall Mounting

I wall mount suitable vented clothes dryers using the correct manufacturer-approved bracket or compatible mounting hardware.

The dryer must be designed and approved for wall mounting. Heat-pump and condenser dryers are not wall mounted.

Where the bracket does not align with suitable wall framing, mounting timber may be required to provide secure fixing points.

Before booking, please provide:

• The dryer brand and model number
• A photo of the dryer and mounting bracket
• A wider photo of the proposed location
• Details of any existing dryer requiring removal

No electrical, plumbing or ducting work is included.

TV Wall Mounting

I mount suitable televisions up to 65 inches, subject to the television's weight, bracket type, wall construction, fixing points and safe handling requirements.

The customer must provide a compatible bracket unless bracket supply has been agreed beforehand.

Power points, aerial connections, data cabling and other fixed services must already be correctly positioned. I do not carry out electrical work, conceal cables inside walls or alter fixed services.

Very heavy televisions or installations requiring two people may be outside my scope.

Artwork, Mirrors and Picture Hanging and Other Selected Installations

I install suitable artwork, mirrors, framed pictures and grouped displays using fixings selected for the item and accessible wall surface.

Where appropriate, I use a laser level to assist with:

• Straight and consistent alignment
• Even spacing between multiple items
• Gallery-style arrangements
• Positioning items relative to furniture or architectural features

The final position may need to change where reliable fixing points cannot be confirmed or concealed services create additional risk.

Whiteboards and Noticeboards

Installation of suitable whiteboards and noticeboards in home offices, study spaces and household planning areas.

Bathroom Accessories

Installation of selected:

• Towel rails
• Toilet-roll holders
• Soap holders
• Hooks
• Shelves
• Other suitable bathroom accessories

Drilling into tiled or waterproofed areas is assessed individually. The proposed location may need to change where concealed services, waterproofing or unsuitable surfaces create additional risk.

Door Hardware

Installation or replacement of suitable residential:

• Handles
• Latches
• Privacy sets
• Door stops
• Minor door accessories

Key cutting and locksmith work, access-control systems and security-certified hardware are outside my scope.

Child Safety Gates

Installation of selected child safety gates where the supplied product, fixing method and proposed location are suitable.

The customer is responsible for selecting a product appropriate for its intended use. Installation will be carried out in accordance with the accessible manufacturer's instructions where practical.

Clotheslines

Assembly and installation of suitable indoor and outdoor clotheslines where the product, location, access and fixing surface are appropriate.

General Household Fixtures

Installation of selected household fixtures and fittings where the item, mounting system, location and fixing surface are suitable.

Customer-Supplied Items and Hardware

Please ensure all items, brackets, components and installation instructions are available before the booking. I can help items.

Customer-supplied fixings are not always suitable for the wall construction or item weight. Where necessary, I may recommend or supply alternative fixings at an additional cost.

Installation may be delayed or unable to proceed where:

• Components are missing or damaged
• The item is unsuitable for the proposed location
• The supplied bracket or hardware is incompatible
• Reliable fixing points cannot be confirmed
• Required licensed trade work has not been completed
• Manufacturer instructions or weight information are unavailable

Any return visit, additional materials or work outside the agreed installation is charged separately unless specifically included.

Wall Construction and Concealed Services

Wall linings do not always reveal what is behind the surface.

Where practical, I assess the available information and use suitable detection methods before drilling or fixing. However, framing, pipes, electrical cables, waterproofing and earlier alterations may not always be identifiable without invasive investigation.

The proposed mounting position may need to be adjusted where a reliable fixing point cannot be confirmed or where there is a reasonable concern about concealed services.

Any additional investigation, repair or making-good work is outside the installation scope unless specifically agreed.

Physical Mounting Only

I provide physical mounting and installation only.

I do not:

• Carry out hardwired electrical work
• Modify plumbing or gas services
• Alter fixed electrical or mechanical services
• Install or modify ducting
• Connect appliances requiring licensed trade work
• Carry out access-control or specialist security work

Appliances must be plug-in ready or appropriately pre-connected and suitable for the proposed location.

Electrical outlets, plumbing points, gas connections, ducting and other fixed services must already be correctly positioned and ready for use.

Large, Heavy and Complex Items

Very large, oversized or heavy items may be outside my scope where:

• More than one person is required
• Specialist lifting equipment is needed
• Access is unsafe or restricted
• The mounting surface is unsuitable
• The installation requires structural design or specialist certification

Large, complex or multi-person flat-pack furniture assembly is outside my usual scope. Small and straightforward assembly may be considered by agreement.

Installation Service Area

Residential wall mounting and installation services are available across ACT districts, including Gungahlin, Belconnen, North Canberra, South Canberra, Woden, Weston Creek, Molonglo and Tuggeranong.

Availability depends on the job type, scope, access, parking, item weight, fixing surface, materials and current workload.

Safety and Suspected Asbestos

Please tell me before work begins if you know or suspect asbestos-containing material may be present in or near the work area.

Homes built before 1990 are likely to contain asbestos products, and homes built or renovated before 2003 may still contain them. Where this applies, I may need confirmation the area is safe, or suitable testing, before work proceeds.
